A century ago, independently-minded artists banded together to escape the constraints of the major studio system. They called themselves "United Artists". Today, in that spirit, we announce the formation of United Broadcasters Unlimited (UBU), a group of free-thinking journalists and commentators who may not agree on everything, but are united in their belief in the fundamental importance of asserting free speech and open inquiry, independent of the limitations of the media mainstream.
